Kits will be available at the Youth Services Reference Desk while supplies last. The activity ideas are also posted below if you prefer to use materials from home.
Doctor Dramatic Play
Materials: Popsicle stick thermometer, pipe cleaner/ duct tape stethoscope, felt band-aids, mask, syringe, stuffed animal from home
*Come to the Youth Services Reference Desk to pick up a kit with materials (while supplies last).*
What: Oh no! Your stuffed animal is sick! Grab your doctor kit so you can help her feel better. Put on your mask and gloves, listen to your patient's heart, bandage up any boo-boos, take her temperature, and gently give her shots.
Why: Dramatic play is full of learning! It includes practice for social skills, language, imagination, empathy, and more! If your little one is nervous around doctors, pretending to be one can be helpful for overcoming those fears. As children learn about feelings, practicing taking care of others is great for building empathy.
Extra ideas:
*Take some notes about your patients. Draw their pictures, mark their progress, measure their height, etc.
*Talk about what we do to stay healthy and learn this hand-washing song (to the tune of Frere Jacque):
Tops and bottoms

I would love to see you busy playing! Please send a picture to clewis@egvpl.org if you would like to share.
