Take a kit home and use the activity ideas below as inspiration for your playtime! Each week brings something new. Kits are available at the Youth Desk while supplies last.
S'more Dramatic Play
Materials: Campfire (glue tissue paper to a clear cup and place over an LED tea light), roasting stick, marshmallows (cotton balls), chocolate (brown fun foam), graham crackers (cardboard squares), and glow-in-the-dark stars for ambience.
*Come to the Youth Services Reference Desk to pick up a kit with materials (while supplies last).*
What: Gather your friends, family, and/or stuffed animals and have a pretend campfire. Build your fire and don't forget the s'mores! Roast your cotton ball "marshmallows" and then add the chocolate and graham crackers. Yum! Round out this dramatic play experience by singing some campfire songs.
Why: Pretend play is important for imagination and developing social skills. When kids play, they have to take turns, problem solve, and compromise-- all important real-life skills!
