Come along on a virtual safari with Page Turner Animal Adventures! This eight week program will feature a different theme each week. Videos, once posted, will be available through September 7th.
Comedy storybook theater, guest performers, virtual field trips, author visits, puppets, crafts, recipes, and games will be part of the fun! The events and activities were designed with Grades K-3 in mind, but many are great for all ages. You can watch the videos any day of the week, once posted. (We are putting all of them on Fridays to avoid overfilling the calendar.)
We hope you enjoy the Fish Tales events and activities that are featured this week. The videos will remain on the calendar through September 7th.
SHOW DAY: We’ve searched the seven seas for some of the ocean’s most talented creatures. Octopus will perform an amazing escape, Mantis Shrimp will prove he’s not just a pretty face, and Angler Fish has an act you’ll definitely want to catch. With all this talent, will Sea Slug be able to shine? Puppetry and live action make this show a watery wonder. You can check out the books mentioned in this video, Nugget & Fang by Tammi Sauer and What's My Superpower? by Avia Johnston, at the library.
CRAFT DAY: With some recycled styrofoam and water based markers, you can “print” your own beautiful ocean scene using materials you have at home. Here is the Printed Ocean Scenes Craft Materials List and Instructions Sheet. If you picked up a Coffee Filter Fish craft kit on June 12th, you can use the markers we provided to make this craft.
AUTHOR DAY: Kate Messner is passionately curious and writes books that encourage kids to wonder, too. Her many titles include Chirp, and the popular Ranger in Time chapter books about a time-traveling dog. In this video, Kate talks to Page Turner about the creatures who live Over and Under the Pond AND Over and Under the Rainforest! Many Kate Messner books, ebooks, and audiobooks are available from our library. Stop in and check them out!
GUEST DAY: Yasu is an award-winning performer who combines traditional Japanese theatre, music, origami, magic, and storytelling into one-of-a-kind performances. Yasu will amaze you with stories, then show you how to make your very own origami water creatures!
Did you miss the June 12th Fun Factory Saturday Coffee Filter Fish craft? You can still make it using materials you might have at home. Here is the Coffee Filter Fish Materials List and Instruction Sheet.
