Come along on a virtual safari with Page Turner Animal Adventures! This eight week program will feature a different theme each week. Videos, once posted, will be available through September 7th.

Comedy storybook theater, guest performers, virtual field trips, author visits, puppets, crafts, recipes, and games will be part of the fun! The events and activities were designed with Grades K-3 in mind, but many are great for all ages. You can watch the videos any day of the week, once posted. (We are putting all of them on Fridays to avoid overfilling the calendar.)

Here are the Pet Pals events and activities for this week. The videos will remain on the calendar through September 7th.

SHOW DAY: Kenny’s many pets keep interrupting his Zoom call and he is frustrated! So Page Turner tells him the folktale, It Could Always be Worse. Then she gives it a modern-day twist by transporting the tale (and the audience) to a library filled with animals, a magical book, and a wacky librarian named Miss Understood. Based on the book, Such a Library!, by Jill Ross Nadler (aka Page Turner). You can check out the book from our library too!

RECIPE DAY: This delicious treat is part art project and part recipe, and all you need is a slice of bread and any fixins’ you can find around the house. Here is the Pet Pal Open Face Sandwiches Ingredient and Instruction Sheet.

AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR DAY: Author Donna Gephart and illustrator Francesca Chessa will talk about their picture book, Go Be Wonderful! It features a spunky girl named Daisy and her pet dog, Mr. Bonkers. We’ll also get a sneak peek at Donna’s new novel for older readers, Abby Tried and True. Go Be Wonderful! and Abby Tried and True are available at our library.

Illustrator Francesca Chessa will show you how to draw your own pet pictures too!

GUEST DAY PREVIEW: Yes! Pet detectives are really a thing, and Jamie Katz (her REAL name!) is one of the best! Kenny and Page found out first hand when Jamie helped them find their lost cat, Philo. Jamie will introduce us to her sniffer dogs, Gable and Fletcher and show us how they help her find lost pets.

If you missed the June 19th Fun Factory Saturday Pet Pop-Up Book craft, you can still make it using materials you might have at home. Here is the Pet Pup-Up Book Materials List and Instruction Sheet and the instructional video is below.
